All car accidents have the potential to end in tragedies, leaving family members of the victims distraught. In addition to the emotional toll, car accidents can have serious financial implications for victims or the families of fatally injured victims. One recent car accident in Ohio has left five families wishing they could turn back time.
The accident occurred in mid-February on Interstate 75 near Dayton. According to police reports, a sedan driven by a 61-year-old Ohio man was traveling in the wrong direction on the interstate. As a result, the sedan struck an SUV occupied by four Ohio residents, all of whom were in their 20s.
When the two vehicles collided, the SUV flipped onto the sedan, where it came to rest. The four occupants in the SUV, along with the sedan’s driver, were killed in the accident. Local law enforcement officials have indicated that alcohol is the suspected cause of the car crash. As of the most recent report, a team of accident reconstruction experts were continuing to investigate the collision.
Thankfully, such tragic car crashes are rare in Ohio, but that fact is likely of little consolation to the five families impacted by this recent car accident. After the initial heartbreak subsides, the immediate family members of the four SUV occupants may find themselves facing serious financial struggles from having to pay their loved ones’ end-of-life expenses or the lost income resulting from their deaths. Fortunately, they, and other families in similar situations have the right to pursue wrongful death compensation in an Ohio civil court.
