It was 10:20 p.m. as a person was pulling out of their driveway onto Route 56. The person coming out of the driveway was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. As the car pulled out it was struck by a 1998 Ford Ranger headed northbound.
The Ranger swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the Silverado. The Ranger went into the left lane and off the side of the road where it flipped and landed on its roof. The driver of the Ranger was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Ranger was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. Neither drugs nor alcohol are thought to be contributing factors in the accident, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
