There are many factors that affect the safety of drivers and passengers. The weather, road conditions and general traffic patterns may all be things that are out of a driver’s control and may contribute to a car accident. However, the one element that is most concerning may be the condition of the driver. When a driver does not take seriously the responsibility to operate a motor vehicle safely, the lives of his or her passengers — as well as others on the road — are placed in danger.
One out-of-state family is mourning the loss of a loved one following an Ohio traffic accident. On a recent afternoon, a 25-year-old driver was transporting three passengers when he allegedly failed to yield at an intersection. A transit bus traveling east collided with the man’s vehicle, sending it off the road into the grass. The impact of the collision fatally injured a 29-year-old passenger in the back seat of the car.
Additionally, the driver of the car and the other two passengers were transported by ambulance to separate hospitals. One passenger is said to have life-threatening injuries. None of the passengers on the transit bus was injured, but the driver suffered injuries and was hospitalized. Police believe the driver of the car was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident.
Distracted driving, drunk driving and driving under the influence of drugs are all common reasons for a car accident. When drivers persist in these dangerous behaviors, they often leave families with the sorrows and burdens of watching a loved one suffer or dealing with a tragic death. At such times, Ohio families may seek the advice of an attorney for assistance in pursing civil actions against those responsible for their suffering and loss.
