An ice cream truck involved in a fatal car crash

When one thinks of ice cream trucks and children in Ohio one envisions laughter, smiling faces and cold, sweet ice cream. One does not envision the sounds of a car crash, whirring Life Flight helicopters and ambulance sirens blaring. But that was the situation in a tragic crash near Huber Heights.

The crash occurred about 1 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. The posted speed limit in the area is 45 mph. The crash happened near the intersection of two local roadways.

The driver of the car, a black sedan, was transported to an area hospital. He had two passengers, both children, who were also transported. The driver and one child have been treated and released but the other child remains in serious condition in the ICU. The driver of the ice cream truck was transported to a hospital by helicopter and has since died from his injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation though speed may be an issue.

Car crashes are never expected and never welcome in Ohio, and a car crash involving a favorite icon of summer is no exception. In the immediate aftermath, people's concern will be for the well-being of the injured and the arrangements for the deceased. As the grief and shock subside, the families may look for answers and a conversation with a personal injury attorney may be helpful. An experienced attorney may be able to provide assistance and guidance in pursuing possible claims for compensation. A successful claim may help with medical costs, vehicle damage and other documented losses.
