Fatal car accident causes death of toddler

No one expects to be involved in a car crash while driving on an average weekday in the early evening. During this time in Ohio, most are driving home from work or picking kids up from day care, or perhaps headed out to dinner or other planned evening activities. However, the hustle and bustle of traffic during rush hour can often cause an unexpected car accident.

A recent three-car accident occurred in a nearby city on a Tuesday evening around 5:30 p.m. The incident took place at an intersection close to a golf course. Reports indicate that, at first, an SUV and a pickup truck collided with one another, though it is not yet clear which driver may have been at fault. Following this initial crash, another truck ran into the SUV.

The SUV contained a mother and her two young children -- a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old. All three occupants had required immediate medical attention. The mother and the youngest child were taken to one hospital, while the oldest child was air lifted to a different medical facility. Sadly, the 4-year-old died from injuries suffered in the accident. The driver of one of the other vehicles involved in the crash had also been injured, but the extent of those injuries was not reported.

In this particular car accident, it is still unknown what circumstances may have led to the crash or which of the drivers may have been at fault. While the investigation is in progress, police are asking for possible witnesses to come forward with information that may be helpful. If it is determined that negligence was a factor in this Ohio car accident, certain parties involved may find it beneficial to file personal injury or wrongful death claims in order to seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages or even funeral expenses.
