Product recall for coffee that acts like Viagra

After discovering that its coffee had a hidden ingredient, one company has decided to take its product off the shelves. A product recall has been issued for the coffee, which is said to give those who drink it a boost that is similar to that of the drug known as Viagra. This product is sold online and is thus available to consumers in every state, including Ohio.

The New Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natura Herbs Coffee was found to have a substance known as desmethyl carbodenafil in it. This substance is similar in nature to the active ingredient in Viagra, sildenafil.  A warning about coffees that contain this ingredient was disseminated by the Food and Drug Administration last year because the coffee can interfere with medications for high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. The consumption of the product has to potential to lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.

The recall is a voluntary one. Kopi Jantan coffee has been sold as an all-natural product promoting male enhancement. Though marketed online, the potentially dangerous ingredient was not listed. The product ingredient list also failed to list milk, which could cause issues for those with dairy allergies or lactose intolerance.

Anyone who has suffered injury or illness in Ohio because of a product that is now part of a product recall can consult a personal injury attorney. A products liability lawyer can help a victim pursue claims for monetary damages for medical bills, time lost at work and financial losses incurred due to the faulty product. Products liability lawsuits are designed to help protect the victim from the consequences of a company's negligence.
